This Spring-like growth along East Las Virgenes Canyon Fireroad looks as it might in March or April. But this photo was taken on October 3, 2023, and is the the result of the rain from T.S. Hilary.

When disturbed, Vinegar weed (Trichostema lanceolatum) has a pungent, vinegar-like smell. It blooms in late summer and fall. As a result of T.S. Hilary it is more widespread and robust than usual. October 3, 2023.
Although T.S. Hilary's rainfall didn't significantly increase the short term flow of upper Las Virgenes Creek, the storm ensured the creek would have water into 2024. October 3, 2023.
