Photographs from the Photography on the Run post: Bizarro Bulldog Loop
The normal route of the Bulldog loop follows Crags Road along the narrow canyon cut by Malibu Creek. Then using Bulldog Mtwy fire road it ascends the broad ridge in the upper center of the photo to Castro Peak Mtwy and the Castro Crest.

I don't want to think that someone tried to paddle Malibu Creek in this canoe during the February 2017 flash flood! Note the flood debris against the trees.

The gap in the power line service roads is between the bottom two towers. The tower on the skyline is at Castro Peak Mtwy fire road.
Other than the thick brush, the main impediment to linking the lower and upper service roads was the approximately 50' dirt and rock headwall in the center of the photo.
To the left of my route the condition of the headwall was as bad as it gets -- loose, eroded and beyond dangerous.
On top of the headwall. Now all I had to do was a "little" bush whacking to get to the tower. The tower is at the end of the upper service road.
