Large Jeffrey pine across the trail near the junction of the trail to the summit of Mt. Waterman. Some trees in this area may be as much as 500 years old. July 25, 2020.
A careful count of this Jeffrey pine's rings suggested an age of around 500 years. The tree is on the south side of Waterman Mountain, and was killed in the 2009 Station Fire. Because of tree ring anomalies, crossdating is required to establish the age of a tree. From a run on July 14, 2018.
